About
My wife and I are both Michigan natives who grew up loving nature and being outside. I have an absolute passion for camping, hiking, backpacking, canoeing, etc that I shared with my wife, and the two of us went on multiple extended trips before getting married and having kids. I even proposed along the Greenstone Ridge in Isle Royal National Park at the highest point of the island.
As anyone who has kids knows, things get more than a little crazy when they get added into the mix (especially three of them :)). However, since it was something important to both of us, we’ve made a strong effort to pass that love of the natural world on to our children. With our oldest about to turn ten, I realized that we had actually succeeded at least in that all three of our boys seem to share our passion.
I started Family Adventures Outdoors as a way to share our love and experiences. Posts will range from overviews of campgrounds we’ve stayed at, suggestions for other families on their forays into the wilderness, outdoor activities, nature crafts, campfire cooking, and beyond. This is a passion project, sparked by the realization that one of the most important things in our life had started to take a back seat to the stress of work, school, and “life” in general. Bringing it back to the forefront just in prepping to set up this blog was a wonderful feeling, and I look forward to continuing and expanding this experience going forward.
Thank you for joining us on that journey.
